Welcome! I am Ruth Gorman Vega and thank you for visiting Gorman Law Firm, PLLC/El Centro Hispano. I am honored to share with you our story over the past 4 decades. I am an immigrant from Managua, Nicaragua. My family lived through the civil war in Nicaragua… although a small child, I saw my parent’s example in seeking to serve the freedom fighters in the conflict against the spread of communism throughout Central America. My father was incarcerated and thrown out of the Country where we landed in the Caribbean basin. I grew up in a completely bicultural, bilingual home. I dedicated myself to study and earned my CPA license working with KPMG Peat Marwick in Washington, DC. I attended law school at Pepperdine in California and moved to North Carolina to found the first law firm to serve the Hispanic immigrant community in Charlotte, North Carolina. My financial and legal training served me well in providing a complete service to my client base for over 30 years. I worked as a general practitioner serving clients in family law, misdemeanor criminal defense, injury cases and immigration. My practice marked a turning point in access to justice for many immigrants. My work was recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal, which included me on its prestigious list of the “Top 25 Business Women of the Year”. After 3 decades of practicing law, I have learned a thing or two about how things work…. most importantly, I understand my immigrant clients, I identify with them and can be a guide to navigate very turbulent waters.
